Education and Child Care

Child Care Assistance Program

Choose from more than 200 licensed family child care homes and centers in Seattle, which contract with the City to provide high-quality and affordable child care for children up to age 13.

Department of Education & Early Learning (DEEL)

How it works

Families can apply at any time during the year. Families are screened for eligibility before submitting unnecessary forms/documentation. Successful applicants receive one voucher per child to cover 25% to 70% of tuition at a qualifying child care provider. Vouchers can be used for full-time, part-time, or before/after school care. Families are responsible for paying the difference between the voucher subsidy amount and the provider's regular monthly rate. Families can choose from over 200 high-quality and affordable child care providers.

You can apply at any time during the year and must recertify eligibility every 12 months.
