Seattle Preschool Program

Seattle Preschool Program offers high-quality, affordable preschool to all of Seattle's 3- and 4-year-olds. Students engage in a full time, research-based curriculum taught by certificated staff in a positive school climate and early childhood learning environment.

How it works


Seattle Preschool Programs partners with schools and child care providers to offer preschool for 6 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Flexible schedules, such as part-day or 3 days per week, are not an option. Extended care is available at some sites.

Programs run from September to June.

If you apply by April 1, 2019, you will receive your program assignment, if applicable, no later than April 30. If you apply between April 2 and April 22, 2019, you will receive your program selection no later than May 15. If your child is not selected and placed in Round 1 or 2 -or- your application is received after April 22, you will be placed on a waitlist.

Vacancies are filled on a rolling basis between May 15, 2019 and March 31, 2020.

The application for 2020 – 2021 is expected to open Mid-March 2020.

Tuition is based on household size and parent/guardian income and can be free or on a sliding scale.
